December is always a big month for movies and this year is no different. With the anticipation of Peter Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R Tolkien’s the Hobbit, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained starring Mr. Leo Dicaprio himself, and Baz Luhrmann’s all-star version of the epic Great Gatsby – to name a few – the box office bar is set very high as we close out the 2012 year.

But to kick it off the winter Blockbuster movie season is another book adaptation that many people were saying would never be more than a really good read. Even the director of the movie himself – Ang Lee – wasn’t sure how it was going to materialize.

Life of Pi doesn’t boast a well-seasoned cast like some of the other big movies set to come out soon, and it’s been getting both positive and negative attention since its recent release. While some critics are calling it “confused,” Roger Ebert said it’s a “a miraculous achievement of storytelling and a landmark of visual mastery.”

Either way, the original novel by Yann Martel was a winner and the movie is definitely making waves among movie goers.

Have you seen Life of Pi yet? What did you think? What other movies are you looking forward to this season?
